Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs appeals his conviction and prison sentence

(NBC, KYMA) - Sean "Diddy" Combs has appealed his conviction and four-year prison sentence.

Combs was found guilty of interstate prostitution following a trail this summer, though jurors acquitted him of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the rap mogul's prison sentence on October 3.

Paperwork filed Monday indicates Combs' lawyers will now fight both his conviction and four-year sentence before the Second Court of Appeals, which oversees legal challenges elevated from New York and surrounding states.

In addition to arguing about sentencing, the defense team will likely tackle the sufficiency of Combs' prostitution conviction itself.

They've previously said Combs never should have been charged under the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to transport people across state lines for prostitution.
