Four arrested in connection to shooting at a park in New Mexico
UPDATE (3:57 PM): Police in New Mexico announced the arrest of a fourth suspect in Friday night's mass shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces.
The fourth suspect, a 15-year-old boy, whose identity not being released due to his age, has been charged with three open counts of first-degree murder, along with 20-year-old Tomas Rivas and two 17-year-old boys.
While Rivas was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center, and is being held without bond, the three teens are being held in the juvenile section of the detention facility.
UPDATE (3:16 PM): Police in New Mexico announced the arrest of an additional suspect in Friday night's mass shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces.
The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, whose identity is not being released due to his age, has been charged with three open counts of first-degree murder, along with 20-year-old Tomas Rivas and another 17-year-old boy.
While Rivas was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center, and is being held without bond, the boys are being held in the juvenile section of the detention facility.
One of the victims was identified as 16-year-old Andrew Madrid. His grandmother described him as an excellent student, happy, loved baseball and school.
The shooting also left 15 people, with ages ranging from 16 to 36, injured, and their conditions are not known at this time.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Two people have been arrested in connection to Friday night's mass shooting at a New Mexico park.
The suspects, 20-year-old Tomas Rivas and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested for the shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces which left three people dead and 15 others injured.
Police say both suspects are charged with three open counts of murder and additional charges are pending.
Rivas will be booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center, where he will initially be held without bond. The teen suspect will be remanded to the juvenile detention facility.
The investigation for the shooting is ongoing.
