Man recovering after being set on fire near Times Square

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Police in New York are looking for a suspect after a man was set on fire near Times Square Sunday.

Shortly before 4:00 a.m. Eastern, police say 911 dispatch received reports of a man on fire. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 45-year-old man still on fire.

Fire crews then put out the fire and took the victim to the hospital where he is being treated for burns on his body.

Officials say the man may have had a flammable substance thrown onto him, and that the attacker may have been someone known to the victim.

Police say they are searching for a suspect.
