On November 12, 2022, two days after Garcia-Jauregui was released from federal prison and deported from the U.S., he attempted to reenter the U.S.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said he disregarded U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers' commands to stop before being tackled to the ground.
Garcia-Jauregui attempted to break free multiple times, attempted to bite two officers and was finally arrested.
He also became combative again while in custody and punched an officer twice in the shoulder and chest.
