Imperial police arrest man for stolen vehicle out of Riverside County

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial police arrested a man driving a stolen vehicle located near the intersection of Highway 86 and Aten Road.

The Imperial Police Department responded to the area of Highway 86 in an attempt to locate a stolen vehicle that was traveling south from Brawley, California on Monday around 5 p.m.

Imperial police said the vehicle triggered a license plate reader saying it was stolen and an officer located it near the intersection of Highway 86 and Aten Road.

California Highway Patrol and the Imperial Police Department were able to conduct a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle.

A 33-year-old man driving the vehicle was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail on Possession of Stolen Property.

The vehicle was recovered and will be returned to the registered owner.

Imperial police said the 33-year-old man also had an outstanding warrant out of Oregon for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
