Ex-YPD officer back in court for sexual misconduct

The former Yuma police officer charged in a sexual misconduct case was back in court Thursday.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA/KECY) - The former Yuma police officer charged in a sexual misconduct case was back in court Thursday.

42-year-old Bobby Anthony Garcia is accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a high school student.

Police arrested Garcia back in December of 2019 after an eight-month investigation.

He's currently facing 47 felony charges.

His defense attorney asked Judge Roger Nelson for a 30-day continuance in order to review a police report from the Goodyear Police Department.

They anticipate receiving that report in the next few weeks.

Judge Nelson ordered a continuance hearing for next month.

Garcia is still in custody.
