Imperial police discovered narcotics in a vehicle traffic stop

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A man was arrested by Imperial police for possessing multiple controlled substances with intent to distribute.

Imperial police pulled over a vehicle for speeding near the Airport on Highway 86 Tuesday, June 27 around 3 a.m.

According to the Imperial Police Department, officers spoke to the driver who gave them a false name.

The driver gave consent for the officers to search his car.

Imperial police found over 180 suspected Fentanyl pills and 12.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

While the driver was taken into custody, he also dropped a small plastic bag containing 11.2 grams of suspected cocaine.

The driver was booked into the Imperial County Jail and during processing, officials discovered his true identity.

Imperial Police said the 37-year-old man had a no-bail parole warrant.

According to Imperial Police, he was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and providing false information to a peace officer.
