Former horse instructor must register as sex offender

25-year-old Makaila Yablonski pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted child abuse and aggravated assault in March.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The local former horse instructor accused of sexually abusing two teenage boys in July 2022 was formally sentenced on Thursday to serve prison time.

25-year-old Makaila Yablonski pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted child abuse and aggravated assault in March.

Her sentencing was delayed because her attorney asked the judge to remove the stipulation that Yablonski must register as a sex offender upon release.

But at a hearing last week, Judge Roger Nelson denied that request.

Yablonski was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.

She will receive credit for 325 days already served in custody.
