Woman released on pretrial supervision following arrest
SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A Yuma woman was back in court after being accused of shooting a man in the leg.
31-year-old Delicia Markovich is now facing one count of disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon involving domestic violence, a class six felony.
Earlier this week, deputies say Markovich was arrested after a man showed up at MCAS Yuma, shot in the leg.
Yuma County public defender, Dexton Nye, requested her release.
“The victim in the case hasn’t reported to Amberley's place and she does have a place to stay, she’s with family, she has that family support," said Nye. "How long have you lived in Yuma? She’s been in Yuma for 10 years, I have no reason to believe she wouldn’t show up to court.”
Markovich revealed big news while Nye was requesting release.
“It sounds like she’s wanting treatment, it’s been a while since she’s been in trouble. What was that? [Markovich says she's pregnant] And she says she’s pregnant.”
South County Justice Court's Presiding Judge Juan M. Guerrero did agree to her release until her next hearing on special conditions.
She’s not allowed to contact the victim or possess any firearms.
“You violate those conditions, then you’re gonna find yourself again in that red suit, do you understand that," said Judge Guerrero.
The expecting mother’s other special conditions to be released are to submit to drug and alcohol testing ahead of her next court date on September 13th.
