Prison Complex Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona state prison officials say they are investigating the possible homicide of a 52-year-old inmate in Yuma.

Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) have launched a criminal investigation into the death of Inmate Robert A. Boyd

ADCRR says the 52 years old died following a fight with another inmate.

Boyd was found unconscious Thursday evening in a recreational yard at the Yuma state prison.

He was serving a sentence for two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and other charges. Boyd had been in prison since May 2000.

ACDRR says officers and medical responders provided life-saving measures to Inmate Boyd when he was found breathing, but not conscious.

Paramedics pronounced him deceased at approximately 7:02 p.m.

ADCRR will pursue criminal prosecution of any suspect(s) identified to be involved in this death.
