Man in pink unicorn suit spotted near Woodard Jr. High School

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) In a nation where violence in schools has become a more regular occurrence than ever before, some of the students, parents, and staff of Woodard Junior High School say they’re not overreacting by being fearful of a pink unicorn.

Woodard Junior High School’s resource officer confirmed a man wearing this pink unicorn costume is often seen oddly lurking near the school.

He was last spotted on Friday.

Yuma School District One says they’re aware of the situation and is confident in its partnership with the Yuma Police Department (YPD).

YPD determined the unicorn man to be a low-level threat.

While unicorns are typically seen as majestic creatures, this one is making some students, parents, and staff uncomfortable by its constant harassment.

Parent, Kevin Wilson, said, “[The unicorn] rode up with a play toy gun in his hand. I’ve complained, my mother’s complained, my nieces complained. The police department should do something about it. He’s running around with a unicorn suit on riding an electric scooter.”

Steve Davidson works for the City of Yuma Parks Department and maintains the Sanguinetti Park located directly across from Woodard.

Davidson has witnessed the unicorn man and said, “We keep a good tab on the park, so when you see something like a pink unicorn that stands out. Very concerning, especially around schools.”

Both Wilson and Davidson say the school should increase its police presence in the area.

However, there are other parents who trust the school officials have the situation under control.

A few students say the unicorn even watches them as they are outdoors during P.E. but school officials say they can’t do anything since he’s off of school property.
