Shots on demand now available at Yuma Civic Center
State waives appointment requirement due to open capacity
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Getting a coronavirus vaccine in Yuma County just got as simple as showing up to get your shot.
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced Tuesday it will no longer require appointments at any of its state-run vaccine sites, including the one currently operating at the Yuma Civic Center.
“The appointment numbers clearly suggest that we’ve accommodated a large share of Arizonans who are able to schedule appointments well in advance,” said ADHS Director Dr. Cara Christ. “State-run sites continue to vaccinate many thousands every day, and there is now room for those who simply want to walk in at their convenience.”
The Civic Center site is open seven days a week. Shots are available between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
ADHS does still encourage people to use its website to make an appointment, but wants the public to know it's not necessary to get the lifesaving shot.
Coronavirus vaccines are also available at pharmacies and local clinics. Each have their own appointment requirements For a list of those resources you can visit the ADHS Find Vaccine site, or visit the Coronavirus page here at KYMA.com and check out our Important Information section.
