Increase in Yuma County coronavirus cases dips slightly after extended surge

New cases dip below 100 for first time in a week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - For the first time in a week, new coronavirus cases in Yuma County dipped below the 100 mark.

The Yuma County Public Health Department (YCPHD) reported 84 new cases of the illness Tuesday. That's still many more than health officials would like to see. However, it is a positive change from the high increases the county saw last week.

Yuma County saw it's highest single-day spike on Sunday with more than 200 new cases.

Health officials did confirm four more deaths from the illness Tuesday. However, Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) also reports it discharged 12 more coronavirus patient, and moved one out of intensive care.
