Beloved Yuma restaurants closed after employee tested positive for coronavirus

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Mr. G's and Chile Pepper have finally announced they'll reopen Friday. The popular restaurants temporarily closed in early May after an employee tested positive for coronavirus.

On May 10th Mr. G's posted on its Facebook page, it was immediately shutting down operations at both locations after finding out a Chili Pepper employee was infected with COVID-19.

Andrea Huff, a family member of the Gutierrez Family, says the family will not let those with positive results return to work until doctors clear them.

Huff also tells us every staff member at both locations has been tested for the virus. Those who tested negative will return to work on Friday.

Huff says both restaurant have been professionally sanitized, as well as their tortilla shop and bakery. She says the Gutierrez family makes the health and safety of their staff members and customers a top priority.
