"We're more than just a gym"- Annie Clary/Executive Director Yuma Family YMCA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY). Across the country the coronavirus outbreak forced YMCA facilities to close their doors.

But, instead of turning off the lights the organization decided to step in and help families in need. With school closures across the map, parents were left with finding daycare for their children. A need the YMCA stepped in to fill.

During this time of need the Yuma Family YMCA is offering "Essential Workers" emergency daycare. At a reduced price children can take part in their program which is offered Monday through Friday from 6:30 am-6:30 pm. Children will receive meals and help with school work along with other activities. YMCA follows strict health guidelines as set by the Center for Disease Control; they practice social distancing, frequent hand washing and children's temperatures are tested daily.

According to the Yuma Family YMCA Executive Director Annie Clary this is just what they do and what they've done since the inception of the organization more than a century ago. Clary says "we're more than a gym" and are always looking for way to meet the needs of their community.
