Kids 5 to 11 can receive a Pfizer COVID booster

(KYMA, KECY) - Vaccine advisors voted to recommend to the CDC that it allow children ages five to 11 to receive boosters.

The group was voting specifically on Pfizer's booster doses.

The Food and Drug Administration authorized the doses for the same age group earlier this week.

The advisory committee recommends children receive COVID boosters at least five weeks after their two initial doses of the vaccine.

So, the booster would be a third dose for healthy children and a fourth dose for children who are immunocompromised.
