Testing bounces back in Imperial County
More than 1,400 tested over two days
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Testing in Imperial County appears to be back on pace two days after county health officials reported only 73 coronavirus screenings.
New statistics from the Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) show more than 1,400 people were screened between July 20, the date of testing dip, and Wednesday morning. Of those tested, 193 tested positive for the virus.
ICPHD also reported two more deaths, bringing the countywide death toll to 165.

California's confirmed coronavirus cases have now topped 409,00, surpassing New York for most in the nation. New York's death toll remains the highest at 32,520. The virus has killed 7,891 Californians so far.
The state saw its highest single-day increase on Tuesday when it added 12, 807 new cases.
