SACRAMENTO (KYMA, KECY) - California Governor Gavin Newsom will draw 15 winners to receive $50,000 as part of the state's $116.5 million Vax for the Win program.
Gov. Newsom said the incentive program would encourage more Californians to get vaccinated. Last week, officials selected 30 winners for the $50,000 Friday cash prize drawing. But on June 15, $1.5 million will be awarded to 10 lucky Californians who have received the COVID vaccine.
Winners will be identified by anonymous numbers and the county they live in.
As part of the program, it also provides Californians with $100 million in $50 prepaid or grocery cards for newly vaccinated people.
