San Luis Senior Center closed until further notice due to COVID-19

Precaution taken to prevent spread

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of San Luis' Senior Centor has been closed until further notice due to Coronavirus-related cases.

Yuma County has seen more positive COVID-19 cases recently and the City of San Luis has decided to look into the situation.

Through early January, the Yuma County Public Health Services district reported on more than 900 new cases.

Closing the Senior Center is only a precaution to prevent the spread as the Omicron variant is another possible concern if it continues to spread.

“Positive cases of COVID-19 skyrocketed in Yuma County in the last few weeks. We must remain vigilant and diligent,” Mayor Gerardo Sanchez said. “The health and well-being of our most vulnerable will continue to be our main priority."
