Inmates switched identities, letting one escape from jail.

CHICAGO, Ill. (CNN) - It was Quinton Henderson's day to leave the Cook County Jail originally booked on drug charges.

Instead of leaving jail, he sold his personal information to fellow inmate Jahquez Scott, a promise of $1,000 the going rate for freedom.

Scott wearing a protective face mask used Henderson's info and left jail.

Now a man accused of unlawful use of a weapon, with a $50k bond is nowhere to be found and was able to simply walk out.

The staff inside Cook County lockup didn't realize the mistake until Henderson's paperwork was gone.

But Henderson, who decided to sell his information for a promise of payment, is now facing additional charges of helping an inmate escape, being held without bail.

A federal judge had ordered the Cook County Sheriff's Office to provide face masks for all inmates who are quarantined for any reason amid the coronavirus pandemic.
