California man arrested after stealing vehicle on tarmac and going on joyride

SANTA ANA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - A man broke onto the tarmac at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California Tuesday and stole a vehicle for a joy ride before authorities stepped in.

The man, identified as 26-year-old Jay Barr, crashed the stolen airport tug and attempted to steal a lavatory service truck, but was thwarted by the police.

Footage taken by Guadalupe Olayo shows Barr reversing the trailer close to a plane.

He was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, trespassing, and vandalism, according to news reports citing the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
