Woman accused of causing deadly bus crash in Southern California pleads not guilty

SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - The woman accused of causing a deadly high-speed crash with a Metro bus in Southern California last week appeared in court Wednesday.

Bailee Rios, 26, was wheeled into court on a gurney to enter her not guilty plea after several previous hearings were delayed due to her medical condition.

Rios is charged with second degree murder, DUI and reckless driving in the September 15 wreck that killed two people.

Police said she was driving the SUV that was speeding and going the wrong way. The SUV ran a red light before plowing into the bus.

Rios' bail is set at $4.1 million.

KNBC's NewsChopper4 was shooting video of the scene when it crashed, killing pilot George Marciniw and reporter Eliana Moreno plus a person on the ground.
