California police find pipe bomb during suspect vehicle search

IRVINE, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - Officers were called to a gas station in Irvine on a report of suspicious circumstances. Irvine police say they found two male suspects inside a vehicle.

Both men were initially arrested for being in possession of drugs. One of the suspects also had a warrant.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found an apparent explosive device.

Police evacuated the gas station and the nearby shopping center.

The Orange County Sheriff Bomb Squad was called to the scene to safely remove the device.
