CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Police chase in California ends in head on crash

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - A bizarre car chase on a freeway, even for southern California standards.

It was all captured by the steady hand of a news chopper pilot. No one was injured in the crash.

A driver, being chased by law enforcement, did a U-turn on the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley Friday afternoon after stopping for gas during a pursuit that lasted more than an hour.

It all came to a finale when the driver crashed head on into a CHP SUV, ran over an embankment before being taken down by officers.

The Honda Accord driver, who was wanted in connection with a burglary, maintained low speeds during much of the chase.

At one point during the chase, a motorcyclist pulled alongside the driver, got off the bike before the driver took off again.

Details about the burglary that led to the pursuit were not immediately available.
