Detective in Southern California shot during investigation

PALMDALE, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - An on-duty detective was shot Wednesday during an investigation in Southern California.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office (SBSO) said the shooting was reported at about 3:15 p.m.

The detective was conducting an investigation when shots were fired. They were flown to the hospital by helicopter. No word on their condition.

SBSO said a second person was also taken to the hospital, but there isn't any further information available about that person.
