Marvel gaming takes over Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO (KYMA) - Marvel fans have another way to get in on the action at Comic-Con, with no badge requires.

The San Diego ballroom at the Mariott Marquis, just a short walk from the convention center, transformed into a Marvel Gaming Lounge that is open and free to the public.

In the lounge consoles are set up to play Marvel Contest of Champions, a game where fans can test their skills, try out the new towers mode, compete in tournaments, and win exclusive pins

Organizers say it's a change to bring the Marvel gaming community together.

"It's always great being in person at any live event because we have such a fantastic community across the world. So when we can get some of them together in a room and just really hang out, talk about the game, it's one of the best things that we do, honestly," Michael Recchia, the Community Manager for Marvel Contest of Champions told KYMA.

There are different levels of game play for any skill level player.

"Marvel spans a very, very wide range of players of different skill levels and interests. So in a game like this with so many characters, we try to make it very approachable to new players and Marvel fans," Recchia explained.

"And of course, we have other content for our much more engaged players who really want that skilled challenge," he added.

Recchia said there is a wide variety of characters to play as, and even some obscure and hybrid charaters.

"It's a fantastic Marvel mobile game with over 350 Marvel characters. If you have a favorite obscure Marvel character, there is a very high possibility  that champion is going to be in this game," Recchia said.

The game is available for PC, IOS, and Android.
