Water main break floods West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - A water main break in the West Hollywood section of Los Angeles is wreaking havoc Thursday morning.

The break caused widespread flooding, turning streets into rivers and prompting road closures.

The rushing water has been flowing for hours pushing vehicles aside and inundating stairwells and underground garages. Even buses are partially underwater.

Residents saying they thought they heard rain overnight, but it was water rushing down their streets.

The main ruptured around 3 a.m., and crews are on site now to repair the damaged pipe and stop the water.

The damage assessments are incoming as entire city blocks are impacted.
