Olympic legend Lindsey Vonn delivers commencement speech at USC

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - The Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California (USC) had a special guest deliver the keynote speech Friday.

Olympic gold medalist Lindsay Vonn attended the school's commencement, addressing the more than 1,200 graduates.

Her message was simple as she recounted her crash on the slopes at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. She told the graduates, "The only real failure in life is not trying."

"What I keep thinking about, lying in my hospital bed, is exactly what I want to leave you with today. As I said earlier, I'm not up here to tell you how to win. I'm up here to tell you how to keep going when you fall. And why, if you do, the winning will come," Vonn expressed.

She has been recovering since her crash at the Olympic games three months ago, but Vonn is doing great.

She is considered one of the greatest ski racers of all time with three Olympic medals, eight World Cup season titles, and four overall world cup championships.

Not only is she an Olympic gold medalist, but Vonn is also a best-selling author, philanthropist, and investor.
