Britney Spears arraigned on DUI charges

LOS ANGELES (CNN, KYMA/NBC) - Singer Britney Spears is being arraigned on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) Monday.

Spears, 44, was arrested in March of this year and charged with DUI after she was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically on a Southern California highway.

While Spears is not required to be in court since the charge is a misdemeanor, Ventura County prosecutors say she will be given the chance to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs.

The plea would likely result in probation, state fines and fees, and requiring her to take a DUI class.

Back in April, Spears' representative said she voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility following the arrest.
