Tuesday marks 100 days since birthday party shooting in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - It's been 100 days since a shooting at a child's birthday party in Stockton, California and still no arrests have been made.

Three kids and a man were killed in the shooting that also left 13 others injured.

Officials have located two vehicles of interest, but those have not led to any suspects. Despite that people in the community are still hopeful for answers and change.

No matter how many days pass, this story will always bring back painful memories to the Stockton community.

"When I seen this this story right here, it really touched my heart even to the 10th power to say, 'No, it's time to do something about this,'" said Nerrissa Davis, who started a campaign called Put Down Violence, Pick Up A Paintbrush. "In order for us to hold people accountable, we have to first see. A lot of people are moved by what they see."

She creates artwork honoring people who have been killed, like one painting in progress, of the four victims who died in the shooting at a child's birthday party.

She's hoping to paint it on buildings across the city so people can't look away.

"People are scared. That's why it's not answers. But there's no excuses. When we know better, we need to do better," Davis expressed.

"I'm actually really surprised that nobody has come forward with information that has led to an arrest," said Christina Fugazi, Mayor of Stockton.

Mayor Fugazi says the community deserves answers, and believes there are people out there who know those responsible.

"If you are helping those that that did this awful tragedy that committed this heinous act, you too, need to go to jail," Fugazi remarked.

As the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation, she says its important to remember what happened and to hope for better days.

"I believe that this community has amazing people in it," Fugazi spoke.

People, like Davis, are working to make change.

"I'm just only one person. But one one person can, you know, make a big difference in life," Davis shared.
