2026 NBA All Star Game Weekend kicks off in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - The 2026 NBA All Star Game weekend kicked off Friday night in Los Angeles with a star-studded event.

The lights were all aglow as celebrities walked the red carpet at the Los Angeles Clippers and Comcast/NBNUniversal's NBA All Star legendary tip-off celebration.

The sta-studded event took place under the Dome at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, bringing together leaders and talent from the entertainment world to the sports community.

This is the 75th year for the All Star game, and it features a brand new format.

The "U.S. vs. World" format pits the league's top American players against the NBA's abundant international talent, and the excitement is building.

"We haven't had it in 23 years...it's awesome to be back in business with the NBA and to be back here at All Star weekend, and it's been a great month already with the Olympics and the Super Bowl, and now NBA All Star. It's a legendary February," said Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports.

"Now you've got the U.S. against the world, and there's so much great international basketball talent and the best part is that American fans are familiar with all the international players because they all play in the NBA anyway, so this should be good," said Bob Costas, sports broadcaster.

"You know L.A. is the place for the stars and by bringing the NBA All Star Game here, our city looks great, it's fun for the fans and there' so much to look forward to as an L.A. resident," said Jeanie Buss, CEO of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 2026 All Star Game will air live on NBC and Peacock Sunday.
