California mother arrested after her child falls out of moving vehicle
FULLERTON, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - Shocking video showing the moment a toddler was thrown from a moving vehicle in Fullerton, California, has been released by the Fullerton Police Department (FPD), who said it led to the arrest of the child's mother.
Video from FPD shows a black SUV turning at an intersection. As it does so, the front passenger door opens and a small child falls out. The SUV then stops, and a woman runs out to pick up the child.
FPD said they became aware of the incident after the video circulated on social media. Police said a witness came forward and reported observing the incident.
The child, a 19-month-old, suffered injuries consistent with the fall and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to police. The child was expected to make a full recovery.
Jacqueline Hernandez, a 35-year-old resident of La Habra and the child's mother, was placed under arrest and booked at the Fullerton City Jail for felony child abuse, police said.
The video was released by police as part of their continuing appeal for information.
