Stockton residents hold vigil to honor victims of birthday party shooting

STOCKTON, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - The community of Stockton, California is grieving after four people were killed and 11 others were injured at a child's birthday party Saturday evening.

Residents and faith leaders held a vigil Sunday to honor the victims and all those impacted by the shooting.

Multiple speakers led the large gathering in prayer and words of encouragement, and called for the community to come together to help prevent future violence.

Authorities described the shooting as a "targeted attack," and now, an urgent manhunt is underway to find the suspect.

"I am confident in our team, and with the work that we have done so far, that we will find these animals that did this and bring them to justice," said Sheriff Patrick Withrow with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.
