Three shot at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Three people were shot at the Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose, California Friday.

The shooting happened at around 5:40 p.m. Pacific.

According to police, the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and not an active shooter situation. Police also said the three victims, two adults and one teenager, were found and taken to the hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time.

Authorities were evacuating and clearing the mall out to confirm there is no threat to the public, and police have asked residents to avoid the area at this time.

One shopper, Daniel Chen, says he wasn't sure if the rumble he heard was gunfire, but he noticed people running.

"It was just...I don't know if we heard the pops, but we just heard a lot of...we just heard rumbling and I wasn't sure what happened at first but then we just see people behind us running and the moment we see people behind us running, we just started running," Chen shared. "I mean, I don't want to say angry, but I'm definitely a little bit anxious...a little bit nervous. I'll definitely have to go home and relax a little bit."

The investigation is ongoing.
