CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Lightning flashes across L.A. night sky

LOS ANGELES (CBS, KYMA) - Spectacular lightning lit up the night sky as thunderstorms brought heavy rain and flash flooding to Los Angeles Thursday night.

Footage captured by X user @unstableair shows several lightning strikes and loud cracks of thunder over the Sherman Oaks neighborhood.

"Lightning was WILD last night in the San Fernando Valley," they wrote in a post. "Lightning in Los Angeles sounding like bombs going off!"

Almost 2.5 inches fell in the San Fernando Valley area overnight in Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
