Burglars tunnel through wall of California jewelry store

ARCADIA, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Burglars stole jewelry and cash after tunneling through the wall of an Arcadia jewelry store over the weekend.

Officials learned of the burglary just before 11:00 a.m. Pacific when they were called to the L&Z Jewelry store on Baldwin Avenue Saturday.

They determined it happened sometime between 7:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. Saturday.

They say the suspect, or suspects, accessed the roof of an adjacent vacant business, forced entry into the business, and then tunneled into the jewelry store's safe room.

The store's owner estimated that nearly half a million dollars worth of diamonds, gold and money was taken.

An investigation is underway.
