Shaq turns to auto shop in California to restore Kobe Bryant’s beloved car

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Shaquille O'Neal turned to a California auto shop to restore Kobe Bryant's beloved car.

Effortless Motors in Riverside was given the task of restoring the 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser, the car driven once by Kobe Bryant and his family.

After surviving years in Bryant's snowy hometown of Philadelphia and most recently, sitting in the Las Vegas desert sun, Shaq's request to restore the SUV came with a few challenges.

O'Neal also wanted the job to be be finished by August 23, for what would have been Bryant's 47th birthday.

The auto shop was able to pull it off and the restoration was presented as a gift for Pam Bryant, Bryant's mother.
