Protesters gather outside ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ studio

LOS ANGELES (CBS, KYMA) - Protesters gathered outside Jimmy Kimmel’s Hollywood studio Thursday after the late-night host was pulled off the air "indefinitely" following comments over the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Footage filmed by Jessica Palmadessa shows protesters holding signs reading "Don't bend a knee to Trump" and "Jimmy said nothing wrong!"

Demonstrators also gathered outside the Hollywood studio on Wednesday.

During his monologue on Monday night, Kimmel said, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

ABC, which broadcasts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, said on Wednesday that the show "will be pre-empted indefinitely," according to a statement quoted by CNBC, meaning another show will be broadcast in its place.

The announcement came after Nexstar Media Group issued a statement saying it would pre-empt the show on its stations "for the foreseeable future."

Trump praised the move, writing it was "Great news for America."

Other US TV hosts, including Jimmy Fallon, rallied behind Kimmel, voicing their support for him on their shows.

Kimmel had not commented at the time of writing.
