Head of megachurch in California indicted on sex trafficking charges
LOS ANGELES (CNN, KYMA) - The head of a California megachurch was indicted on federal sex trafficking charges last week.
Homeland Security Investigators went to Nasson Joaquin Garcia's East Los Angeles home last Wednesday to execute search warrants in connection to the case.
The 56-year-old is the leader of a Mexican megachurch, La Luz del Mundo.
Garcia is one of six people charged with racketeering and child exploitation. Federal prosecutors say the defendants exploited the church and victimized members for decades.
Garcia was already in prison on state charges for sexually abusing young followers.
