LA JOLLA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - First responders rescued a hiker who had fallen near the beach in La Jolla, California Monday.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the hiker suffered a possible hip fracture after falling on the rocks near Flat Rock at Black's Beach.

The Fire-Rescue Department, along with San Diego Lifeguards, paramedics, and California state lifeguards, assisted the hiker, who was hoisted from the scene by helicopter, then taken to a hospital.

Footage posted by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department shows the helicopter lifting the hiker up over Flat Rock.

"Coastal rocks can be slippery and dangerous," the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department warned. "Remember to always use extra caution while exploring our city's beautiful beaches and trails."
