California girl rescued after being stuck in a chimney

FRESNO, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Firefighters in Fresno were called to rescue a girl who was stuck inside a chimney early Friday.

They were called to a home located in the area of Ashlan and West Avenue just before 4:00 a.m.

The homeowners say they heard someone walking on the roof, then a 15-year-old girl yelling.

Firefighters say it took about half an hour to free her by breaking down the chimney.

She went to the hospital with minor injuries, but firefighters say it could have been a worse.

There's no word yet on why she was on the roof or how she got stuck. Fresno police are investigating.
