Fireworks warehouse in California caught fire and exploded

ESPARTO, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A warehouse storing fireworks in Esparto, California, caught fire and exploded Tuesday, sending debris and smoke into the air.

Footage captured by Hudson Sheats shows large smoke clouds billowing from the burning warehouse, as fireworks continue to explode.

The Yolo County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) said the warehouse, near the Esparto area northwest of Sacramento, exploded and was actively burning.

"We urge everyone to avoid the area so that fire crews and emergency responders can safely do their work. A one mile evacuation area has been placed around the scene," YCSO said.

It was not immediately clear whether there were injuries.
