One dead, three injured in suspected DUI crash in California
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - One person was killed and three others were injured following a suspected DUI crash in California over the weekend.
Authorities were dispatched to the scene Saturday on Trimmer Springs Road near Pine Flat Lake shortly after 7:00 p.m. Pacific.
Investigators say a white full-sized GMC pickup was traveling south on Trimmer Springs Road at a high rate of speed with four passengers inside.
The pickup failed to safely negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer of the roadway and down a steep embankment, estimated to be about 200 feet down.
The vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to a stop.
According to the California Highway Patrol, excessive speed and alcohol consumption appear to be factors in the crash that killed a 46-year old man.
Three others in the pickup suffered minor-to-moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
