Authorities face off against protesters outside detention center in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Authorities faced off against protesters outside a federal building in Los Angeles Saturday night.

It took place outside the Metropolitan Detention Center, where many arrested in ICE raids are being brought.

Law enforcement in riot gear formed a skirmish line after an unlawful assembly declaration and appeared to use irritants to try to break up the crowd.

It came after a day of clashes between authorities and protesters in nearby Paramount, California.

President Donald Trump has now signed a memo federalizing 2,000 California National Guard troops for at least the next 60-days despite pushback from state officials who did not ask for the guard.
