Five people charged following human smuggling operation in California
DEL MAR, Calif. (CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Five people are facing charges for what turned out to be a deadly attempt to smuggle migrants into the United States.
On Monday, a panga boat overturned at a beach in Del Mar, California.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California says at least three people are dead, including two mexican Citizens and a 14-year-old Indian boy.
Prosecutors say the boy's 10-year-old sister is still missing, and their parents are among four people hospitalized.
Two Mexican citizens have been charged with bringing in migrants resulting in death and bringing in migrants for financial gain, according to court documents.
Three others have been charged with transportation of undocumented migrants.
