Banner plane in California makes emergency landing

COACHELLA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The pilot of a single-engine Cessna airplane carrying a banner was able to land safely in a field Friday afternoon in Coachella, California.

It's unclear what prompted the emergency landing. High winds were observed in the area, but no word if weather was a factor.

The banner was briefly entangled in power lines before crews removed it.

At least one occupant of the plane refused medical services, according to Cal Fire.

Prior to the emergency landing, the flight tracking app FlightAware indicated the Cessna circled overhead the Coachella Valley Music & Arts festival, which was in its second and final weekend.
