Helicopter in San Diego County makes emergency landing

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A helicopter made an emergency landing Sunday afternoon on a road running parallel to Interstate 15 in unincorporated Escondido in northern San Diego County.

San Diego Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of an aircraft that had landed on North Centre City Parkway just after 2 p.m.

The pilot says he and another person were on board, and they were not hurt. The pilot also says he landed the helicopter after it experienced engine failure.

Late in the afternoon, the helicopter were being partially disassembled as it was being prepared to be towed away.

No one on the ground was hurt.
