LOS ANGELES (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The 40th Annual L-A Marathon kicked off Sunday morning in Los Angeles.

The 26.2 mile course was known locally as the Stadium to Stars since it began at Dodger Stadium and ended on Avenue of the Stars, with the route taking runners through the heart of Hollywood.

Race organizers expected more than 26,000 participants from all 50 states and more than 70 countries.

It also included a charity arm, which hoped to raise at least $4 million on race day.
