Police in California find body near Belmont Pier

LONG BEACH, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Police have discovered the body of a man near Belmont Pier in Long Beach, California.

The body washed ashore, and the victim is believed to be in his 50s.

According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), a call came in at around 11:40 a.m. Sunday about finding a body in the area of 36th Place and Ocean Boulevard.

There were no immediate details regarding what led to the death.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner responded to the scene, and will perform an autopsy to determine further details.
