California firefighters rescue gas company worker who fell into a well

HESPERIA, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Firefighters rescued a gas company worker who fell into a 30 to 40 foot deep well Monday in Hesperia, California.

According to fire officials, the worker fell when soil covering the old well collapsed in the backyard of a residence.

The worker was said to be communicating with firefighters as they used a rope system to hoist him to safety.

Details about the person's condition were not immediately available.
